  1. They say a picture is worth a thousand words but nothing compares to witnessing a firsthand account of today’s spectacle. As the photographer, coach, and author of the madness I couldn’t help but to feel a little envious and disappointed that I was on the sidelines. Once again, I was reminded that life sucks as spectator. You are either doing or watching. Try to be the former and not the latter.
The display of determination, cohesiveness, teamwork, and general joy that was taken in the suffering was nothing short of impressive. Who gets their ass handed to them and then has the juice to smile for a group pic afterwards? Who does this, one person asked? If you missed today I am sorry but take comfort in knowing that there is more where that came from.
It is my endeavor to not only contradict your beliefs about what is possible but to destroy them. We are conditioned to believe what can and cannot be done. Sometimes it takes one of life’s extraneous demands to push us outside of our comfort zones and change our beliefs. In this case it is the whiteboard that demanded more and everyone met the challenge with definitive success. If crossfit jax was a dark alley then the wods would be the mugger trying to rob you of your confidence and determination. After witnessing today’s wod I think everyone is safe. Hold your head up and be proud to know that you have something that transcends the conventional definition of fitness or appearance thereof. Know that you are capable of more than you think and that life’s challenges are getting weaker as you are getting stronger. Take comfort in the hardening of your mind and body and the confidence that beckons your disposal. Don’t be afraid to unleash the same intensity in your personal life. After all, life is nothing more than a long wod involving our strengths, weaknesses, likes, and dislikes. Suck it up and complain when it’s over. Otherwise, enjoy a well-earned weekend and stand by for more.
